How Honda is Tackling the EV Trend in Butler, PA
Honda's Future EV Lineup
Honda's All-Electric Future
Honda is gearing up for the release of the all-new Honda Prologue in early 2024. The Prologue sets the stage for Honda’s first foray into the realm of fully electric vehicles. This release is the beginning of Honda’s strategic plan for a sustainable future, which was laid out in April 2023. The plan includes a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. The 2024 Prologue will join Honda’s current lineup of hybrid vehicles, but the brand aims to have a fully electric lineup by 2040.
To reach its carbon-neutral goals, Honda hopes to increase its EV production to an impressive 2 million units a year by 2030. The first step to reaching this production level is transitioning Honda’s Ohio facilities for EV production. The Marysville Auto Plant, Liberty Auto Plant, and a dedicated powertrain center are currently undergoing modifications to facilitate the Prologue's production and the forthcoming mid-to-large size EV scheduled for 2025. In addition, the Saitama Factory in Japan is also being revamped and will run entirely on renewable energy.
Honda’s electrified future includes two more major goals. Firstly, Honda plans to expand its motorcycle lineup to include at least 10 electric motorcycle models by 2025. Ground is also underway to expand SmartCharge network, guaranteeing EV drivers have access to an unmatched charging experience. In the meantime, Honda's hybrids remain pivotal in diminishing the world's carbon emissions. Explore the current hybrid and fuel-efficient models at Honda North in Butler, PA.
